Department of Neighborhoods News Bulletin – Viaduct Closure Meetings

How You Get Around Is Changing

Beginning with WSDOT’s permanent closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct on January 11 and continuing over the next five years, Seattle is entering a new era of tough traffic.  As we make important public and private investments to help keep pace with our fast-growing city, our bad traffic is going to be even more difficult for everyone.  DON asks for your help to get ready!

The Seattle Department of Neighborhoods and the Seattle Department of Transportation has been hosting public information sessions on the upcoming permanent closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct as WSDOT realigns SR99, the new SR99 tunnel that will open in early February, and the other upcoming challenges to our transportation system as we build a better city.  The next information session is in our neck of the woods:

Wednesday, December 5
Northgate Community Center
10510 5th Ave NE
6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

In addition, Seattle Department of Transportation has launched a new website at www.seattle.gov/traffic to provide you with the latest information, tools, and resources you’ll need to move safely to and through downtown.
